I got an old stock Borgeson on my One thing they Red Head talk about on the Ford steering box if you are using the 4x4x2 box is they add a cage bearing on the sector shaft that isn't there from Ford. I would not risk going thru it again with another 6. I bought it for the Cummins Threaded Mode Switch to Threaded Mode. I've heard nothing but good things about them on the ford-trucks forum. The company that builds the boxes i sell magnaflux the shafts and test them on a machine to set everything and they build hundreds a day.

That's what my Diesel mechanic recommended when mine needed replacement and I would do it again. Sloppy steering is tiring for the driver and a safety concern, and leaking fluid is a nuisance. Registered Users do not see the above ads. The gearbox was also doing a superb job of keeping the pitman arm and tie-rod end well lubricated. We had the same problem with one of them as we have with Ford and Auto Zone. Mine is pretty poor as well.
We have had MANY that were as bad or worse than the one we just removed!!! They suggested I try tightening the top adjustment screw a little at a time to see if that would help. I'm somewhat local, so I picked up the new and returned my core in person. So a rebuilt unit should be like new and feel way better so its kind of a mute point reveiwing that the boxes are so great. Id expect pretty much any rebuilt steering box to be just as good. I've read about those.
